Akbar Eric Manolson is a composer, musician and poet living in the beautiful Eastern Townships region of Québec, Canada, only minutes north of the Green Mountains of Vermont.
Born in Montreal, Akbar Eric began studying piano at a young age. As a teenager he continued his studies in Canada and the United States, and began learning guitar, flute and saxaphone as well. Later traveling abroad to Turkey, India, Israel and South Africa, he deepened his understanding of the cultures of indigenous peoples and the value of the expressive arts in health and healing.
For over 25 years he has been giving presentations, leading seminars and training people in his unique, innovative approach to sound and movement in settings as diverse as brain injury clinics, corporate offices and at the 1996 Summer Olympic games. He has worked as a consultant to the health care system, initiating therapeutic music programs in both private and public facilities.
He is presently spending more time composing, arranging music, writing and some teaching, as well as learning about the healing and restorative power of nature. His current projects include the release of Healing Piano II: You've Got a Friend, Healing Piano III: Morning songs, and the development of music for fìlm scores.
Akbar also sings in a local blues band. He is the father of two wonderful children, Auriel and Sarah, both of whom are musicians, as well as being involved in other interesting pursuits in the world.
